JCC to conduct VR/AR research for children

Faculty staff of the Communication and Crossmedia Programme invited experts and children to visit our VR laboratory to examine the feasibility and efficacy of conducting a research aiming to enhance children’s cognitive and motor development.

JCC teachers Mr Tak Man Leung, Mr Stephen Ma, and Mr Chianly Sze invited a group of children, accompanied by Miss Cherry Lau, a psychologist, and Miss Ching, a registered social worker, to play the interactive games developed by our teachers based on virtual (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies.

JCC teachers and the guests later exchanged ideas on how to conduct a research that provides a combined VR motor-cognitive training to enhance behaviour, cognitive function and dual-tasking for children with special education needs (SEN).

Some studies suggest that 3D VR environment would be more effective in improving vigilance, visual search and divided attention in children with ADHD compared to traditional 2D training.
