Journalism Department Hosts Academic and Cultural Exchange Event for GDUFE Students

Journalism department hosts academic and cultural exchange workshops for GDUFE students.

To promote exchange and cooperation between students from Mainland China and Hong Kong in the Greater Bay Area, the Department of Journalism and Communication held an academic and cultural exchange event for students of Guangdong University of Finance and Economics (GDUFE).

The academic and cultural exchange event, held from 20 August to 25 August, aimed to broaden GDUFE students’ Weltanschauung by exposing them to diverse perspectives and multimedia know-how through a series of workshops and seminars.

During the four-day exchange programme, Mr. Sam Hui, a distinguished media executive and media company owner, delivered a seminar titled “Communication Trends and Media Development in the New Era” to the participating GDUFE students. A CNN senior producer shared his personal experience of hostile-area news reporting with the students. Teaching staff from the Department of Journalism and Communication offered workshops on print and electronic media, and students from the department also shared their work experiences in Hong Kong with the visiting GDUFE students.

The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Professor Fung Kam-wing; the Head of the Department of Journalism and Communication, Dr. Tracy Lee of Hong Kong Chu Hai College; and Mr. Yu Laihui, Director of the International Exchange and Teaching Research Office, School of Humanities and Communication at GDUFE, agreed to deepen cultural and academic exchanges between the two tertiary institutions in the future.
