Journalism faculty member delivers a paper in Melbourne

Prof. Cheng Chen-ching attended the 5th Inter-Asia Popular Music Studies Conference in Australia and delivered a paper to reason why and how Ms. Deng Lijun (鄧麗君) changed image during her heyday.

Prof. Cheng’s symposium paper is entitled “Why Deng Lijun Sang Enka (演歌)? The Distorted Nostalgia and the Post-Colonialist Complex for Teresa Teng’s Enka Performing”, delivered at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.

When the conference got started on 11 Dec 2016, a distinguished scholar, Prof. Andy Bennett, Director of the Griffith Centre for Cultural Research at Griffith University in Queensland, delivered a keynote speech on “Music (Post) subcultures and scenes in Asia: Towards a rethinking of concepts and theories”.
