政務司司長張建宗於2017年8月1日下午到珠海學院參觀訪問，並與珠海學院管理層及學生交流討論。
張建宗司長與署理屯門民政事務專員勞俊衡先生參觀珠海學院新校舍，與校監李焯芬教授、校董會副主席李祖澤博士等管理層會面，了解學院的課程、設備及未來發展。
張建宗司長其後參觀了校内圖書館及體育館等設施，並在電視錄影廠觀看新聞及傳播學系同學現場製作新聞節目。張司長亦與不同學系的學生進行交流，聽取同學的意見。
