J&C Department Co-organizes Professional LED Lighting Workshop

Hong Kong Society of Cinematographers and Chu Hai College of Higher Education co-organized a two-day workshop on professional LED lighting.
Sixty film professionals and students gathered at CHCHE campus, attending the “LED Lighting for Cinematic Filming Sharing Workshop ” on 25-26 July.
Mr. Wing Ma, a well-known gaffer in the industry, displayed and shared his works in “Seven Swords” and “Asura” with the professionals how to use LED lights for different colour settings and scenes. Mr Zachary Au Yeung, Lecturer of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts explained the colour differences between LED lighting and Tungsten lighting.
During the Q&A session, the participating professional raised and exchanged the question of light safety, as the authorities have not set industrial standards for film lighting, especially blue light from LED light bulbs is said to cause harm to eye-sight.
Mr Keung Kwok Man, Chairman of Hong Kong Society of Cinematographers expressed that they were willing to help our JCC students to sharpen their skills to be potential film professionals since they wanted more new blood to pass forward the legacy and genuineness of Hong Kong film industry. Mr David Wong, Head of Journalism Department, was thankful for Mr Keung and HKSC’s contribution and looking forward to future co-operations.
