Two JCM Undergraduate Students Presented Their Paper at Academic Conference

Two JCM undergraduate students, Cai Bo-shen and Zhang Han-han, participated in the PolyU Undergraduate Conference on Applied Linguistics and Language Studies (PolyU-CALLS 2025) on March 29. The conference, organized by the Department of English and Communication at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, featured research presentations from over 70 undergraduate students representing Philippines, Thailand, mainland China, Macau and various local universities.

Zhang Han-han’s research topic, “The Matching of CSR Communication Strategies and CSR Models: A Content Analysis Based on Weibo,” explored corporate social responsibility strategies on social media. Reflecting on his experience, he shared, “This was my first time participating in an academic conference. Each presentation was filled with scholarly thought and closely connected to real life. The conference content was rich and varied, offering both theoretical depth and practical insights. Through interactions with scholars and students from different disciplines, I realized that I still have much to learn on my academic journey.”

Cai Bo-shen presented his research, “Strategic HR Alignment with Maslow’s Hierarchy: A Cross-Cultural Case Study of Lawson China,” and received valuable feedback from scholars. He expressed: “This conference helped me identify gaps in logic and data during the research process. In my future studies, I will focus more on the rigor of research, enhance my multi-perspective thinking, and innovate methods to improve my academic skills.”

Dr. Olivine Lo, the students’ supervising instructor, remarked that the conference was an invaluable experience, helping students understand that academic research is not just about accumulating knowledge but also about profound reflection on real-world issues. She looks forward to their participation in more academic exchanges in the future and hopes they will apply their learnings to their research and studies.
