Associate Professor of Practice Felix Poon Serves as Panelist at Shih Hsin University’s 70th Anniversary International Conference

Mr. Felix Poon, Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Journalism and Communication, was invited to participate in the 2026 TIPRA × Shih Hsin University 70th Anniversary International Conference held in Taiwan.

As a panelist in the Public Relations Forum entitled “Contemporary Chinese Public Relations: Evolution, Practice and Future Prospects across Chinese Communities Worldwide,” Mr. Poon joined distinguished representatives from academia and industry, including Professor Cheng-Neng Lai, Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs of Shih Hsin University; Ms. Mei-Hui Chang, former Chairperson of TIPRA and senior communications leader; and Ms. Lei Li, member of the Expert Advisory Committee of the Shanghai Public Relations Association.

The discussion examined emerging challenges facing the Chinese-speaking public relations profession, including audience fragmentation, trust issues arising from generative AI, and the growing importance of cultural and contextual understanding in cross-regional communication.

Drawing on more than 30 years of professional public relations experience, Associate Professor of Practice Felix Poon noted that future PR practitioners will need to act not only as disseminators of information but also as “translators of context,” helping organizations and stakeholders build mutual understanding and trust across different cultural and social environments.

The conference provided a valuable platform for scholarly and professional exchange among participants from Hong Kong, Mainland China, and Taiwan, while fostering dialogue on the future development of public relations education and practice in Chinese-speaking communities.
