Ms. Shirley Cheung, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Journalism and Communication, had her contemporary ink painting “Voices of Water” successfully selected for the 37th Tokyo Calligraphy and Painting Art Exhibition in Japan, where it won the “Mainichi Shimbun Special Award.” The work innovatively incorporates AR (Augmented Reality) technology, allowing dynamic light and shadow effects to be displayed through a mobile scan, achieving a cross-disciplinary fusion of traditional ink painting and technology.
The award ceremony was held on May 30 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Arts, and the artwork was exhibited at the same period. The painting of student Geng Yuzhu of MA in Art-Tech and Digital Communication, was also selected for exhibition. Together, these two works demonstrate the college’s success in cultivating interdisciplinary talent, injecting new vitality into international art exchange.
