The Department of Journalism and Communication completed a Programme Area Accreditation (PAA) Review by the HKCAAVQ on 25 Jan 2018. The Department’s first PAA exercise took place in late 2013. The PAA status gives an autonomy to the Department to run Honours Bachelor Programmes that fall within the study and training areas of mass media and communications, journalism and public relations.
In its interim report to the College, the HKCAAVQ states that the College can be approved to maintain the Programme Area Accreditation status for the specified Programme Areas with a validity period of five years from the 2018/19 academic year to 2022/23 academic year.
