Senior Lecturer Sherman Li, Journalism Department, co-hosted a conference on the “OBOR and Southeast Asia from a Taiwanese perspective” organized by the Greater China Research Centre of the Education University of Hong Kong on 20 April 2018.
Scholars from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau presented research papers and discussed issues varying from Sino-Singapore relations in the OBOR, the demographic benefits of China’s OBOR, the political economy of Sino-Philippine relations, the geo-politics of Laos and Brunei, the opportunities and challenges of the OBOR in Malaysia, to the conflicts between Taiwan’s News Southbound Policy and China’s OBOR in Thailand.
Chair Professor Lui Tai Lok, Vice President (Research and Development) and Director of the Centre for Greater China Studies at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), encouraged academia of Greater China to hold more conferences to discuss issues across the region so as to yield collective academic achievements through brainstorming.
