The Launch Ceremony of Arts Tech Research Centre held at Hong Kong Chu Hai College

The launch ceremony of Arts Tech Research Centre, Hong Kong Chu Hai College, with the theme of “Hong Kong: A City of Art, Creation and Technology”, was held today (November 1) at Hong Kong Chu Hai College. Mr. LAU Chun, Raistlin, JP, Under Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Dr. Charnwut Chan, GBM, GBS, JP, Vice Chairman of WKCDA Board, officiated today’s launch ceremony. Dr. KAN Tai-Keung, SBS, internationally renowned designer and artist, Dr. Crystal Fok, Head of STP Platform, Professor Wong Yew Kee, Acting Registrar, Acting Associate Vice President (Academic),HKCHC and Professor FUNG Kam-Wing, Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, HKCHC, attended the launch ceremony today.

As the officiating guests of this ceremony, Mr. LAU and Dr. Chan said in their speeches that the Hong Kong SAR government will spare no effort to support the development of the Arts Tech of Hong Kong. They also expressed their ardent expectations for the Centre to continue to contribute to Hong Kong society.

As representatives of the college, Professor Wong and Professor Fung expressed their gratitude to the HKSAR government and society for their attention to the College and the Centre. The College is confident in educating more outstanding talents for Hong Kong through the “Master of Arts in Arts Tech and Digital Communication” programme and contributing more cutting-edge research through the Centre.

The Research Centre also invites experts from the arts and technology sectors to share their experiences in innovation, creative expression, and the integration of arts and technologies in seminars, as well as provide suggestions on how to develop Hong Kong’s Arts Tech in the future.

In addition, So Wing Kuen, Associate Professor of Practice introduced the Centre’s future development plans. Apart from the first research project with the Centre of Buddhist Studies, Hong Kong Chu Hai College, the Centre’s next focus will be on the development of art education in virtual reality and the application of digital humanities.

Art Tech is an interdisciplinary and cross-field art practice that integrates creative arts and innovative technologies. Along with the innovation of digital and communication technologies, Arts Tech research aims to cross the boundaries of arts, and integrate innovative ideas and cutting-edge technology to respond to various challenges faced by contemporary human society. Arts Tech research also cultivates art and communication professionals who meet the needs of the digital generation through creative and forward-looking exploration.

Witnessed by distinguished guests, faculty, staff, and students, the Arts Tech Research Centre of Hong Kong Chu Hai College was officially launched.

As the officiating guest of this ceremony, Dr. Chan expressed his ardent expectations for the Arts Tech Research Centre to continue to contribute to Hong Kong society.

After the Launch Ceremony, Artist Dr. KAN shared his years of experience in Arts Tech in the seminar.

 

Dr. Fok shared the significance of HKSTP in the development of Arts Tech in the Greater Bay Area.

 

In the seminar, Dr. SHI discussed the innovation and development of Buddhist art in the era of artificial intelligence, with the theme of ” Buddhist’s Eyes on Arts Tech”.
